Art Classes at Upwey
Our Weekly Art Classes.
7th June 2021
As well as our weekend and day workshops, we also run weekly classes for people of all levels of experience. Regular classes are held at Upwey Old School. As we restart our classes will be as follows. Please note: For the first few weeks back we ask for payments in advance to book in, contact us for details.
Monday mornings: 10.00 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.
Monday afternoons : 1.30 p.m. - 4.00 p.m. (starting soon)
Friday mornings: 10.00 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.
All materials provided
Different paints, acrylics/ watercolours etc. Different types of paper, pastels, ink, charcoal. There is a large table full of materials set up for each lesson. We have tried to think of everything you might want to have a go with, from masking fluid to bamboo pens. Also Teas Coffee and croissants.
There are some precautions we still need to take. For the time being we have to be careful about anything that might be shared. So for now we ask if you could bring your own mug for coffee and your own brushes and pencil. We will put all our brushes out as soon as we have the all clear. No need to bring paints or paper, we will provide a palette of paints and paper for you on you table. The hall has been set up to comply with the latest covid advice (hand sanitisers, separate entrance/exit. A face mask or shield must be worn for the time being).
We have studio easels and table-top easels for everyone. For any outdoor classes we have sketching easels as well.
Unlike many other art classes, you will have two tutors working together to help you with your painting. Justin and Nicola Cooke are both professional artists who exhibit throughout the UK.
We demonstrate everything we do, so you can see the methods first hand.
You are welcome to join us at any of these sessions. Let us know if you would like more information or would like to book in for a class email@example.com
It's not just the venue
Upwey is a delightful village in Dorset, UK, situated between Weymouth and Dorchester. It is surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the South Dorset Ridgeway.
There could be no better place to hold our classes than the old village school. But it's not just the venue that is important; it is what we have created for our classes inside. Care has been taken to provide everything needed to transform what would have been an empty space into a proper art school studio, so that when you come to a class you step not only into an old village school, but into a true Art School experience.
