For the Monday sessions and the Friday morning sessions we work on a different theme each week; this could be a painting technique or the work of a great artist. We email out a reference picture beforehand along with the login details to everyone who wishes to come. In some recent lessons, we have looked at: painting on coloured grounds, drawing techniques, ways of painting light on dark, how to compose better pictures... that sort of thing. It is great to see everyone's work improve as they gain confidence with these new skills. We have also looked at the techniques of artist both current and from history along the way.

We mostly use acrylics for these classes, although you could use any media you prefer. We are happy to help with pastel or ink for example.

For the Wednesday  morning sessions we will be concentrating on watercolour, although you could use acrylic thinned with water or coloured inks. We will be focusing on .everything you will need to create a great painting with these media. As with all our classes we will email a refence picture for you to use when we send out the logins for each class the day before

For the Friday afternoon sessions we have a class dedicated to portraiture! You can follow a demonstration as we look at classical an modern techniques,  often taking inspiration from some of the great portrait painters of the past. We are often joined by artists who have never painted portraits before; because we can demonstrate all the tips you need to know we are able to help people of all abilities. Justin usually uses oil paint during this class, but you could use acrylic if you prefer.

You will have two views on your screen for your zoom lessons.

  1. The uninterrupted view if thee demonstration painting being made (with close ups of particular elements we would like to show you.)

  2. A second view of your tutors, so you can talk to them and ask any questions about your painting.

There will be two tutors on hand. Nicola and Justin work together on each lesson.

We'd love to see you on Zoom
